We are actively recruiting for a hospital in northwestern Alaska that is looking for an RN with L&D experience. The hospital strives to provide its colleagues with a positively charged work environment, treating them with respect and appreciation.

General Job Duties / Types of procedures required
Solid knowledge of EFM, Care of laboring patient, medication administration, newborn care, postpartum care.
Equipment utilized in the unit/dept.
Fetal Link, Cerner, EFM

Required skills and minimum years of experience.
2 years L&D experience preferred would take 1 year with a nursery or postpartum experience

Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required.

Shift or schedule requirements.
schedule in L&D full time will cover clinic at times, post-partum, only nurse on unit at times other nurses working nearby

Floating to other units/departments.
Outpatient OB clinic if no laboring or postpartum patients

Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept.
2 labor rooms and 3 postpartum beds

Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only)

Dress Code: Scrubs

Tell us about the unit/department specific training and orientation program.
Will get a traditional TDY orientation to the unit of 3 days, plus one day for new employee orientation and one day of computer training.

Equipment utilized in the unit/dept.
Cerner electronic record, Omnicel medication procurement system

Shift or schedule requirements.
M-F 8am-5pm; no weekends, no holidays, no call

Floating to other units/departments.
Yes, to the general clinic side if needed – primary care clinic.

Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept.
12 rooms in the clinic total

Nurse to patient ratio of this unit.
Nurses work 1:1 or 1:2 with providers. Census is 8-12 patients seen per provider per day.

Dress Code: scrubs – any color

Details about the unit/department specific training and orientation program:
The employee will receive one week 1:1 orientation with another nurse in the department. Candidate will have to complete several courses in Healthstream and attend hospital orientation during the first week of employment.

Requirement Note

2 years of L&D experience, will take 1-year experience with nursery/postpartum
Alaska RN license (will wait for license)
13-week contract
