VP Compliance

Our client is searching for an experienced attorney to lead the compliance function in a collections (accounts receivable management) environment. This is a very senior, critical position in an established, reputable and growing company.

Reporting to the Global Chief Compliance Officer (CCO), the VP – Compliance is responsible for planning and conducting operational reviews to assure readiness for regulatory reviews , inquiries, audits, and investigations (such as CFPB). This individual will function as the secretary of the Compliance and Risk Committee and is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls and process documentation as well as interfacing with external audit stakeholders.


  • Functions as the secretary of the Compliance and Risk Committee.

  • Consults with staff and attorneys at all levels of the business to promote good business practices in response to state and federal regulatory requirements, such as FDCPA, and compliance with client work standards.

  • Evaluates the effectiveness of internal controls and process documentation.

  • Assists in the preparation and approval of audit deliverables and the approves and implements remediation action plans.

  • Determines internal compliance with selected policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • Manages, coaches, and disciplines a team of collection compliance staff.

  • Prepares accurate audit reports for presentation to the Compliance and Risk Committee.

  • Elicits information from knowledgeable internal/external sources about areas and functions to determine appropriate audit direction/methodology.

  • Performs special projects or other duties as requested by the compliance committee or Chief Compliance Officer.  

Requirement Note

Requires a JD (with active bar admission) and 5+ years of experience in a collections compliance management role dealing regularly with audits and reviews. Must be results driven, customer focused, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and capable of developing talent/delegating effectively in order to build a high performing team. The ability to communicate and build relationships with all levels in a company is required.


Ideal candidate is managing a collections compliance function for a collection agency, debt buyer, collection law firm, bank, finance company or corporate consumer creditor.
