Twas the last month of the year
and all through the industry, the people weren’t stressing,
although it was almost 2006.
They had no fear even though the end was near,
For they knew that their hard work would pay off this year.
The employees were motivated and at their very best,
For management inspired them with a great contest...
It’s that wonderful time of year to get in the spirit, to motivate and inspire your team and make the most of the holiday season! Take advantage of the holidays and the end of 2005 and have a contest or two. You may want to consider a challenge that is determined by the highest amount of revenue or sales for December. Or possibly, it’s the amount of new clients that are brought in before the new year. Offer a cash award or perhaps a free vacation. The winner could win an Ipod or flat screen T.V.
Whatever you chose your contest to be, your team will put in that extra effort while they have visions of how to celebrate dancing in their heads.
Spread some cheer and decorate the office with holiday ornaments, ribbons, menorahs and Christmas trees. Have a snowman welcoming everyone as they arrive. Hang some mistletoe and you are sure to be guaranteed a laugh or two! Have a holiday party and speak with your colleagues in a light hearted and entertaining atmosphere. Have a toast or two, dance a little, laugh and enjoy an evening outside of the office.
Share your excitement for next year’s goals. Give bonuses to your top players and speak about next year incentives. Talk to your partners, supervisors and employees. Let them know you are happy to have them on your team by complimenting their successes and accomplishments for the year. Too often we hear about negatives; it is amazing to see what a little positive feedback can accomplish. Happy employees are loyal, more ambitious and productive. They will look forward to starting a new year with a company they believe in, want to grow with and contribute to!
And with
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
The employer said they had nothing to dread
For he believed in his team, as they went straight to work,
He handed them their bonus, for he was no jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose
And giving a nod, out the door he went
He sprang to his car, to his team he gave a honk
And away he sped as he drove into the night,
But I heard him explain, ere he drove out of sight,
“Happy Holidays to all and to all a good night.”
