NOTE: This is a remote role with quarterly presence at the company's HQ in midtown New York, N.Y.

 

 

Overview

 

Oversees the design, development, and implementation of employee health and welfare benefits, which includes medical, dental, short and long-term disability, absence management, life insurance and voluntary benefits. Participates in the design and administration of health and wellbeing programs. Ensures regulatory compliance and manages vendors for all health and welfare benefits. Works with business leaders on benefit strategy and program development. Works under general supervision.

Responsibilities

 

• Collaborates with leadership to establish benefit program metrics, goals and objectives. Evaluates programs for effectiveness; recommends new programs to fill gaps and reduce costs. Develops strategies for new and existing programs, introducing best practice concepts and approaches to improve effectiveness. Ensures that the organization retains competitive benefits in the market.

 

 

• Oversees the design, development, and implementation of health and welfare benefits. Ensures programs are best in class and administered effectively and consistently across the enterprise. Reviews and analyzes claims data (e.g. medical, prescription drug, disability) to ensure programs are cost effective.

 

 

• Ensures all health and welfare benefits meet federal, state, and local regulations as well as organizational policies and procedures.

 

 

• Oversees health and welfare communications to employees and managers including open enrollment, key benefit initiatives and summary plan descriptions. Assists in plan document and vendor contract reviews and ERISA reporting.

 

 

• Supports labor strategy including financial analysis and participating in union negotiations.

 

 

• Supports the design and administration health and productivity programs which focus on reductions in health risk factors and key loss drivers including but not limited to: complex case and disease management; health coaching; decision support; wellbeing assessments and health screenings. Ensures programs are effectively integrated with health and disability benefit programs.

 

 

• Manages the day-to-day relationship with health and welfare benefit vendors, consultants and other external partners. Negotiates renewals.

 

 

• Keeps up to date on the latest benefit wellbeing issues and trends through networking, professional memberships, and survey participation. Synthesizes trends and determines application and integration into department.

 

 

• Performs all duties inherent in a managerial role. Ensures effective staff training, evaluates staff performance, provides input for the development of the department budget, and hires, promotes, and terminates staff and recommends salary actions, as appropriate.

 

 

 

• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

 

 

Education:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required

 

 

Work Experience:

 

Minimum four years’ related benefit experience in, with a large organization, consulting firm or vendor required, with two of those years working with pensions and/or retirement plans required

Experience with health and wellbeing programs and/or benefit underwriting and/or familiarity with retirement and other qualified plan benefit programs preferred

Demonstrated excellent communication and organizational skills required

Proficient with personal computers, including word processing, spreadsheet/chart/graph preparation required

 

 

Compensation:

$106,700.00 - $142,200.00 Annual
