Our client is a well known Engineering and Consulting firm with offices in PA, WV,  and OH.  They are seeking an Environmental Scientist II for their headquarters in PA. (near Pittsburgh).

Job Description:


Environmental Scientist II



Perform environmental assessments in the field including wetland delineation, stream surveys, phase I and II waste management survey, groundwater resource identification, water sampling, and agricultural land identification, as necessary. The office work will include the preparation of aquatic resource reports, waste management reports, permit applications for projects impacting jurisdictional aquatic resources, preparation of NEPA documents (CEEs, EAs, EISs), and threatened and endangered species coordination. Coordination with the various regulatory agencies to perform the field work, prepare the reports and obtain the permits is required.

Essential Functions

  • Perform Environmental duties including field work and office work as directed by the Environmental Manager /or Project Manager.
  • Act as a leader for aquatic resource investigations and/or hazardous/ residual waste investigations including mentoring less experienced staff.
  • Coordinate with the various regulatory agencies, including, but not limited to, the PADEP, USFWS, EPA, PFBC, PGC, Conservation Districts, USACE, PennDOT, PA Turnpike Commission, FHWA, County Planning Commissions, Municipalities, and Watershed Organizations.
  • Utilizing GPS data obtained in the field and GIS to develop plans or maps.
  • Coordinate, manage and attend meetings as required.
  • Recognize and understand Federal, State and Local Environmental Regulations to develop plans and prepare\obtain permit applications.
  • Other projects/responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion






Job Requirements:



Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science\Resource Management, Biology, Ecology, Geology, or other related field


Knowledge Requirements:

  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations and the permitting process.
  • General knowledge of wetland and stream functions and values.
  • Knowledge of basic computer programs such as word, excel, powerpoint, etc.


  • Good oral and written communications required
  • Ability to work in a team oriented environment
  • 5-10 years of experience
