Our client is seeking a Kitchen Manager to join their amazing fine dining team at their Long Island, NY Restaurant. You will be supporting the Executive Kitchen Manager on all tasks, systems, and responsibilities. In this key role the Kitchen Manager will supervise and coordinate activities concerning all “back of house” and personnel. Occasionally will assist in FOH.   


Job Description:

  • Supervise food preparation, kitchen, and storeroom areas.
  • Hires, discharges, trains and evaluates back-of-the-house personnel.
  • Purchases or requisitions food items, kitchen supplies and equipment.
  • Plans or participates in menu planning and food production. Apportions meats, vegetables, and desserts, and utilizes food surpluses to control food costs.
  • Supervise cooking personnel. Observes food to ensure conformance to recipes, and standards of appearance and taste.
  • Supervise personnel to ensure cleanliness of kitchen and equipment.
  • Communicates with and assists back-of-the-house personnel to maintain efficient food production.
  • Informs front-of-the-house personnel of menu changes, specials, and shortages.
  • May meet with staff, customers or client groups to plan menus for special occasions.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years of experience working as a cook or kitchen manager.
  • Basic knowledge of cooking, food prep, kitchen equipment and procedures, safety and sanitation regulations, and knowledge of food and food production.
  • Must be able to exert well paced mobility for long periods of up to four hours in length and have the ability to bend and squat.
  • Must have ability to lift 25 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
