The Material Planner schedules, plans, coordinates, and tracks the flow of hardware and material throughout the manufacturing process, including fabrication, assembly, test, and shipment.  This individual must be organized and results driven with great problem solving and analytical skills.

Job Description:

  • Fulfill demand requirements by examining Material Requirements Planning (MRP) indications
  • Communicate material availability to procurement and ensure that need dates are met to release production orders   
  • Maintain configuration and serial control of production hardware
  • Ensure the generation of pick lists and other manufacturing documents as required
  • Communicate material obsolescence
  • Plan and sequencing material inflows to maintain inventory at planned levels to ensure that inventories are sized and balanced at the optimum levels throughout the supply chain
  • Managing the effective cut in of engineering changes minimizing inventory impacts and ensuring customer OTD.
  • Supporting other department planners with data input, router creation or expediting as requested.
  • Anticipate material/part shortages or delays and expedite as required to eliminate project schedule impacts.   Work with Purchasing to mitigate.
  • Identify long lead procurement and fabrication needs.
  • Provide kits, documentation, material updates and communicate delivery requirements with domestic and offshore Outsource suppliers
  • Support production programs by working with the program managers and production leads
  • Maintain strict adherence to business process and government compliance including flow downs and restrictions of manufacture.


Job Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree in  Business, Operations, Supply Chain or related field and two (2) years' experience in planning or as a buyer/planner
  • Master's Degree and one (1) year experience in planning or as a buyer/planner
  • Planning within a manufacturing environment is a must


  • Knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain concepts and applications
  • Strong analytical, planning and organizational skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently under pressure and react quickly to changing priorities
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel
